Mera Peak — the highest trekking peak in Nepal at 6,461 meters — offers an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Himalayas. Located in the Mahalangur section of the Sagarmatha region, it rewards climbers with breathtaking panoramic views of five of the world’s tallest mountains: Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,414m), Cho Oyu (8,188m), Makalu (8,463m), and Kanchenjunga (8,586m).
Perfect for adventurers seeking a first introduction to mountaineering, Mera Peak Climbing combines thrilling high-altitude trekking with genuine Sherpa hospitality. Journeying through traditional villages, lush valleys, and dramatic alpine landscapes, you’ll not only conquer a peak but immerse yourself in the rich Himalayan culture.
The route begins from Lukla, heading south into the scenic Hinku Valley. After reaching the summit, the return journey crosses the beautiful Zatra La Pass, offering even more diverse scenery and adventure. While Mera Peak is a demanding climb due to its elevation, it requires only basic technical mountaineering skills, making it an ideal challenge for fit and adventurous trekkers.
Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November) are the best seasons for Mera Peak Climbing, offering the most stable weather and clearest views.

After a scenic 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, capturing stunning Himalayan views, we begin our trek with a gradual climb towards Chutanga. Overnight at a cozy guesthouse.
Today, we ascend steeply across the Nau Lekh ridge, crossing the Zwatra La Pass at 4,610 meters. On a clear day, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the Limding Himal. Overnight at a guesthouse in Thuli Kharka.
A mostly downhill walk today takes us across several ridges before descending sharply to the Hinku River. A short climb through lush forest leads us to Kothe, nestled by the river. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Following the Hinku River, we trek gradually uphill. As we ascend, vegetation becomes sparse, giving way to alpine shrubs. We visit a local monastery before reaching Thaknak, a lively stop with good facilities. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Today’s gradual uphill hike feels more challenging due to the thin air at higher altitudes. Khare, a small open settlement, serves as our base for preparation and gear checks. Overnight at a guesthouse
We spend the day acclimatizing around Khare, practicing basic mountaineering techniques with our climbing guides and getting familiar with our equipment. Overnight at a guesthouse.
After breakfast, we trek up to High Camp, crossing Mera La Pass. As we reach the snow line, we gear up with crampons and ice axes. High Camp is set behind a large rock formation that offers some shelter from the winds. Overnight at tented camp.
We begin early around 1:00 am for the summit push. The climb is mostly gradual until the final steep section, where fixed ropes may be used. After savoring the incredible summit views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and beyond, we descend back to Khare for a well-earned rest. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Retracing our steps, we descend back to the lush surroundings of Kothe, stopping for lunch at Thaknak along the way. Overnight at a guesthouse.
After breakfast, we trek back through familiar trails toward Thuli Kharka. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Crossing Zwatra La Pass once again, we descend back to Lukla. It’s time to celebrate the successful completion of our Mera Peak adventure! Overnight at a guesthouse.
