Overview

The Short Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek with FeelEverest is a carefully designed adventure for those who want to experience the grandeur of the Himalayas in a limited amount of time. Situated in the heart of central Nepal, Annapurna Base Camp lies at an elevation of 4,130 meters within the Annapurna Conservation Area, one of the country’s most iconic trekking destinations. This trek offers a remarkable combination of natural beauty, cultural richness, and moderate challenge, making it ideal for both first-time and seasoned trekkers.

Starting from Nayapul, just a 1.5-hour scenic drive from the popular lakeside city of Pokhara, the trail winds through some of the most picturesque and diverse landscapes Nepal has to offer. You’ll hike past lush rhododendron forests, cascading waterfalls, stone staircases, and traditional Gurung and Magar villages. The route takes you through culturally vibrant stops such as Ghandruk, Chhomrong, Dovan, and Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC), eventually leading you to the majestic Annapurna Base Camp, surrounded by a towering ring of Himalayan giants. The views from ABC are truly surreal, with panoramic vistas of Annapurna I (8,091m)—the tenth highest mountain in the world—along with Hiunchuli (6,441m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m), and Gangapurna.

Beyond the dramatic scenery, the trek is a cultural journey through ethnic Gurung communities, where you’ll experience warm hospitality, traditional stone houses, and local cuisine. These encounters add an enriching layer to your adventure, offering insights into the unique way of life in the highlands of Nepal.

As part of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), this region requires trekkers to obtain entry permits, which can be arranged in Kathmandu or Pokhara. The trek is available throughout the year, but the best times to enjoy clear skies and comfortable temperatures are from March to May (spring) and September to December (autumn). The Short ABC Trek is considered moderate in difficulty—meaning it’s suitable for anyone in good health and with a basic level of fitness. No mountaineering skills are required, but a sense of adventure, enthusiasm, and determination will go a long way in ensuring an enjoyable and successful journey.

This trek is entirely overland, with no flights involved in the itinerary. However, optional Kathmandu–Pokhara domestic flights can be arranged upon request at an additional cost for added convenience.

In just a few days, the Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek offers an unforgettable blend of high Himalayan adventure, cultural immersion, and natural wonder, all in one incredible journey through the heart of Nepal.
