The Langtang Valley Trek, also known as Glacier Valley Trek, is one of the most scenic and rewarding treks in the Langtang Region, offering stunning views of the Himalayan peaks. Located just outside Kathmandu Valley, this trek presents trekkers with the chance to experience breathtaking snow-covered mountains, glaciers, and vibrant rhododendron forests. As you journey through the valley, you’ll also be immersed in the rich culture and traditions of the Tamang and Sherpa communities, known for their unique dialects, customs, and warm hospitality.

This trek includes visits to the historic Keynjing Gompa, the Yale Cheese Factory, and offers panoramic views of majestic mountains like Mt. Your journey begins with a visit to Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites before embarking on a scenic drive to Syaburbesi, where the trekking adventure truly begins. The trail takes you along the Langtang Khola, leading you to Langtang Village, which was significantly impacted by the 2015 earthquake. From there, the trek continues with spectacular views of the Langtang range, before returning to Kathmandu to conclude your adventure.

    Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

    Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by a representative from Feel Everest Trek who will transfer you to your hotel. After checking in, you can relax or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel for souvenir shopping. In the evening, we’ll host a welcome dinner where you’ll enjoy delicious Nepali cuisine, giving you a taste of the country’s authentic flavors. If your flight arrives late, the meeting and dinner will be scheduled for the next day. Overnight in Kathmandu.

    Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and Trek Preparation (1,300m/4,264ft)

    After breakfast, embark on a cultural tour of Kathmandu Valley. Visit UNESCO World Heritage sites like Pashupatinath Temple, the famous Hindu temple complex, and Boudhanath and Swayambhunath stupas, which are key Buddhist landmarks. You’ll also explore Kathmandu Durbar Square and Kumari Ghar, home of the living goddess. In the afternoon, we’ll discuss your upcoming trek, and you’ll meet your fellow trekkers and the trekking team.

    Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft) – 7-8 hours, 132km

    In the morning, leave Kathmandu for Syabrubesi, the starting point of your trek. The drive takes you through winding roads with breathtaking views of the Manaslu, Annapurna, and Ganesh Himal mountain ranges. Upon arrival at Syabrubesi, you’ll settle in for an overnight stay.

    Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft) – 6 hours

    After breakfast, begin the trek along the Langtang Khola (river). The trail winds through oak and rhododendron forests, crossing bridges and climbing steep sections until reaching Lama Hotel for an overnight stay.

    Day 05: Trek to Langtang Village (3,430m/11,253ft) – 5-6 hours

    Continue your trek to Langtang Village, following the Langtang River. As you ascend, you’ll pass forests of hemlocks, maples, and rhododendrons. The path gradually leads you to a wind-swept valley before arriving at the village for the night.

    Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft) – 3-4 hours

    Today’s trek brings you to Kyanjin Gompa, a Tibetan village. You’ll pass through stone-built houses, climb to a Chorten (stupa), and walk along a large Mani wall. Spend the afternoon exploring the area and acclimatizing, or visit the Kyanjin Glacier. The village is also home to a famous monastery and a yak cheese factory.

    Day 07: Explore Kyanjin Gompa (Day Hike)

    Today, take a day hike to one of the best viewpoints in the region: either Kyanjin Ri (4,850m/16,005ft) or Tserko Ri (5,000m/16,500ft). Both offer spectacular views of the Langtang Lirung, Kinshung, and other surrounding peaks. Afterward, return to the guesthouse for lunch and enjoy a relaxed walk around the Kyanjin Valley.

    Day 08: Trek Back to Lama Hotel (2,470m/8,150ft) – 7-8 hours

    Today, retrace your steps back to Lama Hotel. The descent offers you new perspectives of the mountains you passed on the way up, and you’ll have time to appreciate the views you may have missed earlier. Take your time and enjoy the walk back.

    Day 09: Trek to Syabrubesi via Sherpa Gaun (1,550m/5,100ft) – 5-6 hours

    After breakfast, continue through hillside trails to the Sherpa village of Bridhim, offering stunning views of the Ganesh Himal range and the Tibet Himalayas. The descent leads you to the confluence of the Langtang and Bhote Koshi rivers, arriving at Syabrubesi for a comfortable stay.

    Day 10: Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft) – 7-8 hours, 132km

    After breakfast, begin the drive back to Kathmandu, following the same bumpy roads through Dhunche. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for the night.

    On your final day, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to your next destination. Safe travels!

    • A porter will carry the bulk of your luggage (up to 25 kg per two trekkers). Be mindful of the weight limit while packing.
    • Domestic flights allow a luggage weight of 15 kg per person. Additional items not required for the trek can be safely stored at the hotel in Kathmandu at no extra cost.
